About Lynne Sung
Lynne is interested in how our ideas about the landscape are historically and culturally formed. She explores the impact of humans on the natural environment and responds to the marks and scars that we leave as we move through the landscape. Her work has an enticing meditative quality inspired by the environment but often evoking an emotion or thought rather than depicting a specific landscape.

About Toni McDowell
My work is inspired by where I live and what I see around me; Sydney’s waterways and bush headlands, but also the built environment of the inner city. Natural light is essential to my art as it colours and transforms the world around us, affecting our mood moment by moment. While I enjoy painting and drawing en plein air, sketches made on site often become a source for intensive work in the studio.
Painting for me is a balancing act, teetering between structure and chaos. I look for abstract elements rather than a naturalistic depiction and enjoy the texture and surface of paint.
Works may contain oil, acrylic, collage and etching. Different media help me to explore favourite themes in the search towards the image held tentatively in my mind.
The picture plane undergoes many changes during the creative process as layers of colour, transparent medium or impasto are laid down and scraped off. Sometimes the miraculous happens when mysteriously everything falls into place.
