Marcelle Mansour is an Australian Palestinian Artist. Intellectual, Painter, Light Artist, Writer, Poet, Journalist and Ambassador for Peace. Marcelle has professionally practiced visual arts since the early 1980s. Her work spans from representational art of portraits, murals, sceneries and various topics, through to abstract arts. As an Australian immigrant, Marcelle received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature (BA) in 1977 from Ain Shams University, Egypt. In Sydney she furthered her studies in a variety of fields, and contributed in journalism within the Australian Ethnic Media, covering newspapers, community radio and the satellite TV network.
Having completed the Master of Studio Arts (MSA) in 2011 and the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in 2012 – 2013 at Sydney College of the Arts, University of Sydney, along with her traditional art mediums of paints, she has now gained an additional focus as a contemporary light artist, where the main medium of expression is light. Marcelle’s current work of light highlights the theme of universal human experiences in a phenomenological manner, with roots embedded in Eastern and Western art, along with spiritual and philosophical traditions. She emphasises the presence of the power of light and perception as a body lived experience.
