About The Artist
Lou was born in Tanzania, East Africa, where her family lived for a number of years. On return to England, she grew up in a rural village in Staffordshire, before studying for a degree in Design & Technology at St John’s College, York. She later worked in advertising and design for several years before opting for a more adventurous lifestyle overseas.
Lou travelled extensively through Europe and Asia with many visits to Australia where she finally became a permanent resident in 2000. After spending time in Sydney and 7 years on Cape York Peninsula she moved to Cairns. Her passion and fascination for travel and foreign places still drives her today.
The Australian landscape clearly provides the ideal inspiration for the artist. Her observations capture the essence of the land with tremendous clarity, featuring spacious scenery, open spaces and dominant skies all imbued with mood and atmosphere.
Louise has held 14 solo exhibitions to date and been part of many group shows. Her work can be found in private collections in the UK, USA, Europe, Japan, Dubai, New Zealand and throughout Australia.
